Every day, Factory Buys delivers hundreds of orders to customers across Australia — from outdoor furniture and mattresses to toys and more. But no matter what’s in the box, every delivery comes with one shared promise: exceptional customer service.
“We aim to over-deliver when it comes to customer care,” says Factory Buys CEO Kate Gaske. “In a highly competitive market, our point of difference is the human touch. It’s something we’re genuinely committed to.”
It’s this dedication to customer service that made offering Afterpay a natural choice for Factory Buys. “[Afterpay] is just a fabulous offering for customers,” says Gaske. “Afterpay allows them to pay for their purchases in four instalments and manage their spending.”
Today, Afterpay transactions make up a “significant” portion of all Factory Buys orders. Not only that, Afterpay helped Factory Buys increase its average order value by 15 per cent and attract new customers and more sales through events like Afterpay Day.
Factory Buys launched in 2017 and today offers an extensive range of products — from outdoor furniture and homewares to camping gear and pet supplies. With stock held in warehouses across Australia, orders can be delivered to customers nationwide within days. And because the business operates without physical showrooms, Factory Buys can keep prices competitive.
“We offer great, quality furniture, mattresses and homewares at a significantly lower price than other retailers,” says Gaske. “And we deliver it really fast all across the country.”
Many of Factory Buys’ products, such as mattresses or couches, are essential purchases.
Afterpay enables customers to purchase these items when they want them, while paying for them over time. “Take mattresses,” says Gaske. “If you’re moving home, upgrading children’s bedrooms or having guests for Christmas, you want extra mattresses quickly.”
“While [our products] don’t sit at a high price point within our market, customers still spend $300 or $400. Afterpay enables customers to pay for products in four instalments and manage their spending,” says Gaske.
Offering customers the ability to pay for their purchases over time means they are willing to spend more with Factory Buys. Gaske says that customers who purchase products using Afterpay spend 10 to 15 per cent more than customers using other payment methods.
With Afterpay, customers can take advantage of time-sensitive promotions and offers to secure products at low prices – but pay for them in instalments, says Gaske. “When products go on sale, customers can maximise the sale, get the goods quickly and manage their spending.”

Afterpay Day has become a major moment in Factory Buys’ marketing calendar, explains Gaske, as it lifts sales and attracts new customers.
During Afterpay Day March 2025, Factory Buys saw a 66 per cent uplift in sales, and a rise in new customers.
“It’s really big on our calendar,” says Gaske. “It’s basically Black Friday, [end-of-financial-year] EOFY sale, Boxing Day and Afterpay Day.”
Over the years, Afterpay Day has become so important to the business that Gaske invests in a paid search campaign and a dedicated Afterpay Day landing page to amplify the event.
Afterpay’s ability to drive new customers isn’t limited to Afterpay Day.
Every year, Afterpay Shop Directory sends nearly 500 referrals to Factory Buys’ website, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue.
“I love all traffic that converts!” laughs Gaske. “We’ve found that people who come through the Afterpay Shop Directory channel are more likely to convert.”
As a chartered accountant by trade, Gaske is very mindful of financial compliance. For her, one of Afterpay’s best features is the security and trust it offers customers.
“Afterpay is super secure. In a world where online transactions are being more and more scrutinised and [people are increasingly considering] who has their details and where credit card information is going, Afterpay is one of the most secure payment gateways,” she says, explaining that Afterpay offers two-factor authentication and other security features (to learn more about how Afterpay protects your business security, click here).
Gaske also values the sense of partnership she's found with Afterpay.
“The Afterpay team has been incredibly supportive over the years,” says Gaske. “As someone who is running my business and trying to make a million decisions a day, having support from a massive organisation like Afterpay is quite reassuring. Being able to speak to the team openly about my business has been helpful, and the account managers have offered some great strategies and ideas.”
